Hi, I wonder if you can help me with my request.
I am looking to have an engagement ring made. I would like a Novo-styled or pave ring, with a yellow centre stone of around 1 ct. The colour is more important than the final diamond size or carat weight. I would like the yellow diamond mounted in yellow gold, but the ring should be white gold or platinum. I want it all to be as eye clean as possible. and the contrast with the white and yellow stones to be as strong as possible for my budget of $8000. It seems cushion is very common for what I want, but if another stone with better colouring, which still made a balanced looking ring was available, then I’d consider it as an option. Is this budget enough to still make a ring that looks special?
I work and live overseas, so I’m curious on payment options. Credit card or a money transfer works best for me and I’d like it delivered to a friend in Edmonton, Canada as he can hand carry it to me. Also what time scale are we looking at please? Is there anyway way the ring could be delivered to my friend in about a month from now?

I’d be happy to help you out. Where do you live? There is 15% tax in Canada, so it may just be worth it to ship to you wherever you are.
My problem is that I work all over, particularly Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and I might never see it if you post to there! How about if I had it delivered to colleagues in either Colorado or Texas? How much is their sales tax? How long do you think it would take to make? Also, I guess I should go direct to James Allan or Blue Nile, right?

One suggestion I’d make is to ask JA to put a yellow basket underneath the diamond. This helps enhance the yellowness of the diamond.

I think the VVS1 looks better and with the yellow basket below, the stone colour will be enhanced.
