Q&A: Seeking a Second Opinion on an Emerald Cut Diamond

Hi, I was wondering what you thought about this diamond? It seems very large for its ct, but I’m worried about the inclusions that are right in the middle.

I think those are the best cuts (by far) of the bunch. The L:W ratios on those are the best.

We pretty much settled on the 1.07

but then we saw this one:

which would be REALLY stretching our budget.

My question for you is.. in the videos, the 1.14 seems REALLY sparkly and flashy.. is it a better diamond? Is it just the way they are filmed? In comparison, the 1.07 looks kind of dull, but I never thought that until seeing the 1.14. I know ECs aren’t brilliant the way other cuts are, and I’m fine with that, obviously! But I’m worried about buying a “dud” if we go with the 1.07 even though they have VERY similar stats.

I’d say stick with the 1.07. It is a beautiful diamond and you won’t be gaining much by stretching your budget.
