Interested in a 1 carat diamond round solitaire between 5 and 6 thousand. Can you help me find one in this price range?
Thank You.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Let me know and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I’m thinking of a solitaire no sidestones a platinum setting.

What do you think?
I was considering the sku 182463. I am concerned about the igi certification. In viewing some of your recommendations you suggested staying away from the igi because of their cut rating. Also you cannot view the igi certificate on the web site. Of the three options which would you suggest?
I’m sorry, but I shouldn’t have recommended an IGI. That slipped through. Sorry about that.
Mike I was looking at the sku 175255. I called the live chat to ask some question. That was on Thursday the price of the ring was 4,620. The next day I was looking at the sight and the price was 4,680 I called them to ask why but they said they could’ t do anything about it. Just letting you know this to pass on to others.
Let me explain why that is. The percentages I’m using are just for example and aren’t based on anything.
The price on the site is automatically processed. Wholesale suppliers feed lists of inventory virtually and the prices are based on an industry wide price list. The list says a 1 carat J Si1 is worth XXX. The supplier says they will offer it at 10% off of that price. James allen then marks it up 20% and it goes on the site. The only time JA gets the actual diamond is after someone purchases it (this allows them to offer a huge inventory without having to pay to own it).
Every friday that industry-wide price list is updated. Sometimes the prices go up or down. If they do, the price automatically changes. Or sometimes the company adjusts their prices. It has nothing to do with the fact that you told them you are interested in the diamond. It would be quite counter-productive for James Allen to annoy customers (and ruin their reputation) over $60.
I hope that explains this to you.
I thought the same thing about the 60 dollars but no one gave me an explanation. Who ever i talked to also talked to someone else. Thanks for getting back so quickly.
$60 sounds like an odd number for it to change, but its definitely an automatic thing. No person on any level (either in JA, or their supplier) would be stupid enough to do that.
I want to thank you for your help in purchasing this ring. I purchased the sku 175255 it looks great.
Thanks again
