I am looking to maximize the value of the diamond i purchase by balancing all the factors outlined in your excellent articles. As such, I have settled on a round diamond, color of H-L, medium-strong blue fluorescence Vs1-Si2, and size of 1.3 to 1.49 carats (trying to get 1.4 or close, either way). It looks like i would spend about $6000 for this but am getting a headache trying to find the right one. Could you please help?
This diamond is an incredible find:
Its bright, eye-clean and a great price.
Looks good but there are a lot of inclusions in the picture. Those won’t be obvious when set? Also, I am a little worried about going down to K. I thought I was pushing it with the J (but with the added fluoro).
Another quick questions: is fluorescence always blue? Sometimes they say “strong blue” and others just “strong.”
Thanks again, your site and the articles within are simply incredible.
1) The diamond is eye-clean. The larger inclusions are around the edge and they are not reflecting, so its not a problem.
2) You asked for H-L. For a K color, this diamond is very white and the fluorescence is a bonus.
3) Sometimes a diamond has “Yellow fluorescence.” This is a kiss of death. If it just says ‘Strong’ open the certificate to confirm its blue.
