I am in Berlin and would like to buy a brilliant cut diamond around 0.80 carat (the diameter must be around 6 mm) H or I color, eye-clean (I do not like black crystals, pinpoint is OK), none fluorescent and the most important is an super ideal or ideal cut (I like sparkling diamonds). The budget is 4-5k euros maximum. Can you please recommend me one?
I’d be happy to make some recommendations for you, but I need a little more info.
What style setting (solitaire, pave/side stones/halo) and metal (yellow/white gold, platinum) do you want to use? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Once I know this, I’ll be able to help you more.
Thank you for replying. I am looking around and I decided to choose a 0.6 carat I-G color diamond because I want to spend reasonably. I am considering these two diamonds:
and
I also look on Whiteflash.com but all the 0.6 carat ACA diamonds have crystals and I do not like the look of a black point inside my diamond.
I will choose 14k yellow gold simple setting. If I choose halo or pave setting do you think the I color stone will look yellow?
Great, thanks for the additional info. For the type of setting you have in mind, you can easily drop in color to a J and it will still look fantastic. I color if you decide to go for a pave, H if it’s a halo.
The diamond will still look white.
I love the Brian Gavin diamond. It’s beautifully cut and you can use it both for a pave or a halo setting. There will be a lot of added brilliance thanks to its fantastic cut.
Just to let you know I just bought the Brian Gavin diamond 🙂 I used this email for transaction.
Now, my friend wants to look for a 4000 USD 0.71, 0.72 up to 0.8 G color VVS1, VVS2 or VS1 eye-clean brilliant cut diamond (really eye-clean one). The cut must be 3EX GIA or AGS triple 0 (polish we can accept to a 1 if you think it does not affect brilliance of the diamond), none-fluorescent and if the HCA score is excellent it is the best. I think with this amount of money she can’t get a Brian Gavin or Whiteflash ACA so I think it’s better to look at James Allen for her. The setting is white gold pave or halo. Can you recommend her some options?
That’s great news! I hope you’ll love it when you receive it. If you could let me know how it looks when it arrives, I’d appreciate it.
As for your friend’s diamond, with BGD she can cheat on color a little:
or go with this one www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.708-g-vs1-round-diamond-bkags-104088267023&a_aid=y
This would be my recommendation from JA:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.80-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2143929?a_aid=dmnd1357
I chose an F color because it happened to be a better value than some of the Gs in that range. It’s fantastically cut and will be incredibly brilliant.
Thoughts?
They are all beautiful nearly flawless. I will discuss this with my friend. I am eager for my ring also, when I have it I will send you the pictures. Also I am travelling to Antwerp in two weeks so I will have a look at the diamonds there but I believe it can’t be any cheaper than buying from the US. I checked out a 0.5 carat IF H color here in Berlin (they have only in-house certificate so I am not sure if the grading is exactly what they say) and it costs 3700 euros, really expensive. If in Antwerp things are no better, I will ask for your help again in choosing a pair of diamond studs :). Thank you.
Thank you. Let me know what she says.
Regarding Antwerp, we’ve just secret shopped them with Mike and there’s a review coming out very soon, I hope you’ll find it useful.
I’d be happy to help you again with picking out diamond studs. We don’t put any stock in the in-house certificates many stores provide, they are not that accurate.
Please, help urgently! I saw today James Allen got 25% off on ring settings. I am thinking of getting another side-stone or halo ring for budget around $1300-1500 for everyday wear (less is better because I will have to pay 19% VAT here). The main stone is only 0.3 to 0.45 carat H color eye-clean. The settings I will always choose yellow gold. Which of the following two settings do you think is nicer for that? And do you think another shape diamond is nice? Especially the 3 small stones side-stone ring. I think that a rectangular or cushion center diamond will make a very beautiful ring as well. My finger is only 48.5 German size (is it 4.75 US)?
The setting style is all about fashion and style; this is uniquely personal and not an area we can really help with. But personally, I love the triple diamond ring, it looks very brilliant.
This diamond will look great in either of those settings: www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/0.40-carat-g-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-1133957?a_aid=dmnd1357
Regarding the size, you’d better ask the JA custom service about it, they’ll tell you more.
What do you think?
Hi, I send you the picture of the ring. I took them under yellow office light. It’s really hard to capture the brilliance of the ring, in the picture it looks dark but the diamond is white in real life.
I also posted a review on Trustpilot if you would like to have a look. Thank you for your help and all the best for all your endeavors.
That sounds amazing! And the pictures are beautiful, thanks for sending them over.
