Budget: About 2,500 for diamond, $3,000 to $3,500 for entire ring
Color of metal: probably Rose Gold
Type of setting: Preference is at least a few small side diamonds
Thank you for all of the helpful information! Last week, before I came upon this site, I was quite excited when I visited Jared and felt very well-treated and understood and excited as the main “gemologist” at this certain store helped me find a “Triple Zero” diamond and reserve it. I have not looked at it physically yet as it is on its way to the store. According to the lady that helped me, this diamond (which I’m guessing was AGS certified, but I didn’t write it down) will be noticeably more brilliant than many others due to its ideal cut, polish, and symmetry. Here are some of the details:
0.50 carat
Ideal cut, polish, and symmetry
G color
SI2 clarity
PRICE of $2,025
When I’ve looked at other places online (and after becoming more informed from your website), this certainly does not seem like the most bang for my buck. What has been your experience with Jared, and what kind of review would you give it?
Also, what advice can you give me on choosing diamond color if the ring will be rose gold?
I would like to go bigger on the diamond (as big as 0.75 carat), so I was wondering (in comparison) what you thought of the diamond on this link:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.72-carat-i-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-265317?a_aid=dmnd1357
It doesn’t appear to be “eye-clean” to me unfortunately…
Thank you so much for your help!
No that Jared diamond is a terrible deal and I seriously doubt it is GIA/AGS certified (unless its from their virtual inventory). That JA diamond you found is a great choice and and good value. “I” color is perfect for rose gold.
Thank you very much. I had another question: I am looking at this ring on JA (in the link below), but my potential issue is that the center diamond I picked out is an “I” color and the diamonds on the ring will have an average color of F-G. I thought it might be an issue because of your article about diamond color where you said the center diamond should be the most colorless. Just fyi, the ring I will be getting will be rose gold, not yellow gold. Do you think that having band diamonds that are “more colorless” than the main diamond is an issue in this situation?
I color is perfectly fine for that setting. We always recommend I color for those style settings with no problem.
