I am in the market for an engagement ring and have been reading on your site (which is very helpful) among others on what to look for, the 4Cs, reviews of diamond sites etc. I nearly pulled the trigger on a nearly 1.94 carat, H color, VVS2, ideal cut diamond on Blue Nile that was listed for $12.8. It seemed almost too good to be true though and when I contacted their CS dept and asked if I would be able to view detailed pics of it they said they would have to reach out and it would depend on which vault etc. Granted I’d expect a VVS2 to be eye clean without a doubt, but I did see the polish, symmetry and florescence were not the highest so perhaps that is why the price point given the 4Cs.
In short, I’m glad I didn’t buy sight unseen because I’d worry I may have been disappointed possibly. That said, I am going to browse the James Allen site since they do allow HD views of their diamonds.
My budget: 10-$12k
Her ring preference is plat/white gold solitaire
I’m looking for largest carat (1.7-1.9?) with ideal+ cut, eye clean, H/I maybe even J color if not noticeably yellow. Please let me know.

Dropping in color is a good idea. For a white gold solitaire I/J color is what we usually recommend and it looks fantastic. There no reason to pay extra for higher grades. https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color/

This diamond is very well cut, eye-clean and bright, It’s a great value – judging by its real dimensions, it was even larger and cheaper than one 1.67ct I found.
It will be very brilliant in that setting.
