Hi Diamond Pro, I have my original wedding ring – 26 years old. It has a marquise setting (diamond is about .60 carats). I am wanting to find and purchase a larger oval diamond – about 1.5 carats. I wanted to see if you think this setting can take an oval and where I go to have it reset once a diamond is purchased.
Also, I found this diamond – what do you think about it? I’m interested in size, color (DE or F) and VS and better. I’m wanting to spend max about $9K-&10K. Thanks for any advice!
I’d be happy to recommend something, but I’d strongly recommend adjusting your color parameters:

Also, have you been looking at GIA certificates only?
Thank you for your response. I am fine adjusting color parameters – I just didn’t want to go too yellow – even though it will be in a yellow gold setting. I would rather larger and/or better cut and go down in color. But I definitely don’t want it getting yellow looking. I also want a definite eye clean (eagle eyes too!) diamond.
What do you think about these diamonds?

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.31-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-sku-182039?a_aid=dmnd1357 – 8.99 mm x 6.09mm – might look a little larger? Is it too narrow? Girdle too thick? Better color than other? Smaller than looking for in carats but if actual measurement is bigger, I’m okay with smaller carat weight.
Thank you so much!! I’m very detailed so I may have a few questions on anything suggested – I appreciate your expertise!
I don’t like the bow-tie on either of them. I’d go with this one:

Thank you!
Does that one seem eye clean? I see some streaks and noticeable inclusions (of course it’s 20x). Do I take a “dirtier” diamond like that over the bow-tie effect? My concern is that my current smaller diamond has inclusions that I can see when looking closely – that has bothered me all these years. Other than that, I really love the shape of it.
Do you know if James Allen will take my old ring and set this new diamond into it? They would have to reconfigure prongs since my old ring has two “tension” type prongs holding a smaller marquise. Thanks for any info!! I really appreciate your time! Thank you Thank you!
…
If I increase my budget some – what do you think about this one compared to the 1.50 H one your recommended? Which is a prettier diamond or this one (cut wise and eye clear)?
Thank you again!
The diamond is eye-clean and we feel very strongly that you shouldn’t overspend on clarity:

That 1.71 is nice. If you want to spend more, that is a good option.
Thanks! I have put the 1.50 on hold and gave them your info and my email.
Thanks!!!
Sounds great. Please let me know how it looks when it arrives.
