Q&A: Looking for an Oval-Shaped Diamond With a $6,500 Total Budget

By Mike Fried,

Hi,

I’m going to propose to my girlfriend next month and have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to buying a diamond. I know she wants an oval cut but I’m overwhelmed with all the different choices/filters on the diamond sales websites.

I would like to get her a 1 ct. minimum diamond and have a budget of $6,500.

I looked around and I like this diamonds for you:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/1.20-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-2444682?a_aid=dmnd1357

It’s well cut, eye-clean and will be very brilliant.

What do you think?

That diamond is beautiful, I misinterpreted my budget though. I’m looking for $5,500. $6500 was all in with the ring as well.

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification. Would something like this suit you better?

Hate to make you look again, is there anything for ~$4,500 that’s as nice or close to it? I’m looking to buy tomorrow and want to have some options in different price ranges.

Just purchased the first option. Thanks for all of your help!

That’s great news! You’re welcome, it’s been a pleasure helping you.

I hope you love it when you receive it. If you could let me know how it looks when it arrives, I’d appreciate it.
