Hi – I’m buying a diamond for my partner and can’t believe how much cheaper the diamonds at Blue Nile are in comparison to the wholesaler I was going to go through.
Is there a catch? I’m concerned that the stone they send me won’t be legit and being a layman I won’t know the difference.
Thanks a lot for your time.
There is no catch. Buying diamonds online is almost always cheaper and safer than buying in a store. You can read more about it in our article: https://www.diamonds.pro/education/buy-diamonds-online/
I’m happy to recommend some options to you. Can you tell me what exactly you are looking for?
I’m looking for an emerald cut diamond, G or better, .9-1.0 carat good or very good cut. Price range around 4500-5500$
My problem is on Blue Nile or other sights when I view the 360deg photos. If the quality is SI or lower there are scrapes and chips visible along the surface of the diamond. Would this be visible to the naked eye when set in a ring and viewed?
I wouldn’t go with an SI clarity for an emerald cut. The larger windowed faceting makes the diamond look like a glass (which is obviously easier to see through). This means that clarity is much more important here.
I like these options for you:
Blue Nile LD10006585
They are well cut, eye-clean and all of them will look great in any setting you choose.
What do you think?
Those are all good options.
Thanks so much but could you please send me some options from the James Allen website?

They have great specs.
Thoughts?
I’ll go with one of them. Thanks so much.
