Hi,
I have found your website really helpful to understand what to look for in a good quality diamond. I’m helping my friend pick an engagement ring for his (hopefully) soon to be fiancée.
I’m looking on Blue Nile as he’s in Ireland and I know they have a base there. He has selected this style Petite Diamond Engagement Ring.
And I would appreciate some advice about which diamond to select. The budget is €900-1000. And he’s looking at round brilliant style.
Thank you in advance. I look forward to hearing from you.
Here’s what I’d recommend:

What do you think?
Thank you for your prompt response and suggestion. Think we will proceed with it. Just waiting for my friend to confirm what size he wants.
Just one quick query before we finalize our decision, do you feel it’s worth compromising on the cut to go slightly bigger in size or is this a matter of personal preference?
I would not recommend sacrificing on cut. Cut is by far the most important aspect of a diamond. It’s what makes the diamond brilliant.
I just wanted to let you know that we followed your recommendation and purchased the diamond you selected.
That’s great news! I’m glad I could help.
Unfortunately, we have run into a problem with Blue Nile regarding the diamond you recommended and we subsequently selected. As the diamond would not arrive in time for my friend’s planned proposal Blue Nile are offering us an alternative diamond that is available to dispatch immediately.
I would really appreciate your feedback on this diamond. The person I am dealing with has pointed out that it is a slightly larger carat size and clarity, however, I want to ensure that overall you feel it’s of equal quality to the one you recommended.

As you can appreciate time of now of the essence so I would appreciate your feedback at your earliest convenience.
That diamond is a good alternative, no red flags in the cert. Go for it.
Thanks. Really appreciate your speedy response.
You’re very welcome.
