Hi, First I’d like to say that your website has been incredibly helpful throughout this confusing process and I’ve learned so much. I am buying an engagement ring and before I found your site I was sure it was coming from Blue Nile. Now I am sure that’s not the case. I am looking to spend between $8000 to $9000 on a ring. Platinum setting, round cut and most likely a Pave band. My girlfriend has already mentioned to me in the past that she would prefer a bigger diamond rather than a nearly flawless diamond. Any recommendations you can give me would be great!
Thanks.
I would recommend this diamond for you:
Its bright, eye-clean and well cut. It will look good with a nice pave setting. What do you think?
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. As it happens I have the day off and I was looking at buying the right this morning. I love that diamond. It is a little pricey mainly because of the setting I’ve chosen. Let me ask you, James Allen has two Pave settings that are really similar. I’m looking at Platinum after speaking with several female co workers. They have SKU 17040P and SKU 11005P what’s the major difference beside the slightly more jagged side profile on the latter? I was going to choose the 17040P as the setting but maybe I can save a little on the setting and buy a better diamond.
This is a stone I am looking at now. It looks pretty clean. What are your thoughts? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.25-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-258190?a_aid=dmnd1357
Both of those diamonds are fine.
I think your female co-workers are leading you down the wrong path. White Gold is a far better value. There is no redeemable asset to platinum. Its more expensive, so jewelers push it.
