Hi!
I need help find an oval diamond stone. Our maximum budget on the stone is CAD 4,000. I want it to look as close as possible to a 1 carat because I’m a size 7 and have big hands and I have found bigger stones look more flattering. I do want as much brilliance as possible within that budget.
I am going to be setting it into a halo setting. I have been shopping on James Allen’s website.
I found a couple of options that look great on the videos, but you need to request the certificates as well, we need to make sure the diamonds have nice cut parameters:

Can you also suggest some round diamonds I could have set into a cushion halo? When it comes to round diamonds, would it be okay to look at SI1 to help bring cost down or does that take away from sparkle? Can you find round diamonds in the $3500 CAD range?
I have a size 7 finger and am trying to find something that will give me enough finger coverage without looking to small. Maybe something that’s .80 carat in that price range if possible? We are trying to keep the whole ring under 5k including the setting.
As for the clarity grade, I always search in the SI-If range and pick the best priced eye-clean diamond I find. Sometimes it’s an SI, sometimes a VS or even a VVS is a better value. I don’t recommend diamonds with higher grades unless there’s a good reason for it.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to find something around 0.8ct for $3,500. The largest options I found were these 0.7ct ones:

What do you think of this diamond?
J color is too low for a halo setting. The smaller diamonds around the center stones will make a color difference. I’d go with the H color at the lowest if you want to have the colorless impression.
That’s really helpful, thank you!
