Hello,
I am currently in the market for an engagement ring that is pear-shaped with a gold band.
I would like to keep the price between $ 7-9k. I have found and been recommended that www.bluenile.com offers the largest selection at the best price.
I was looking at the diamond Blue Nile LD09807310 from their site that seems to have the right mix of color and clarity.
Does this seem like good value for the price or are there other better options you could suggest?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.
The diamond you picked is well cut, but strong fluorescence can cause haziness on I+ diamonds. Also, when picking out a pear shape diamond, it’s important to have a video (or at least a picture) of it. Some of them tend to have a very visible bow-tie effect.
I’d recommend something like this instead:
Blue Nile LD09644981
Blue Nile LD09821828
They have great specs.
What do you think?
This is really useful information that I am finding very helpful. This is my first time buying an engagement ring (hopefully the only time), so any information I can get is appreciated. I have done extensive research, but your expertise will help guide me in the correct direction.
Both those diamonds look great… one follow-up question, for both diamonds they have color as “G”… Is that still really good? It does say “near-colorless” but wasn’t sure if it needed to be D-F… G is still okay? Basically, want it to look the best.
Appreciate the support.
You’re welcome, I’m glad I can help.
Don’t worry about the color. G looks perfectly colorless in any setting you choose. Even an H would still be fine. The difference in colors isn’t usually recognizable from anything above an H grade.
Paying an extra for DEF diamonds would be a waste of money.
Thanks – I am going to go with one of the ones you suggested – as I am doing this online it’s difficult to visualize size. Is the difference between 1.2ct and 1.41ct noticeable really – that the last point I am struggling with?
I am going with a petite band if that helps.
Appreciate the input.
It might be noticeable if you put the diamonds, unmounted, side by side. In real life, nobody usually knows what a 1.4ct is supposed to look like so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I wanted to follow-up and let you know I did purchase the 1.2ct diamond you recommended. It looks amazing! I appreciate the help and your advice was great.
Thanks!
That’s great news! I’m so glad that you are happy with it. Thank you for the wonderful feedback.
If it’s not too much to ask, do you think you can do me a quick favor and write a small review on www.ivouch.com? If you could, I would be extremely grateful. Here is the link:
I wish you and your partner a life of happiness and fulfillment.
I entered a great review for you on the iVouch. If for some reason it didn’t work I would be happy to do again since you provided such excellent advice.
Thanks again!
Thank you for the kind words! It’s been a pleasure helping you.
All the best!
