I’m looking for a .9-1.0 pear-shaped diamond that will be set in rose gold.
I have a few questions…
First, is a VS1 diamond always going to be eye clean?
Second, what is your opinion on color if a diamond is going in rose gold… go down to J?
How do I know when looking at a zoomed-in image what inclusions would be visible without magnification?
And last, your opinion on 14 vs 18 ckarat rose gold. Is the 18k too close to the same color as conventional gold? Thanks
It is true that most VS1 diamonds are eye-clean, but it’s not a rule. It always depends on a particular diamond and its inclusions.
For a rose gold setting, I’d go with at least an H color if you want a colorless diamond. Pear shape diamonds don’t refract light just as well as round diamonds and thus tend to show their true color more.
I’d recommend 14k gold. It’s cheaper and more durable than 18k.
