Square cushion. And I am leaning toward a prong style setting. I do know she wants a thin gold band as well.

Wow big difference. Are some shapes more expensive then others? Or pretty similar in price per carat?
Diamond prices increase exponentially and once you are over the 2.00ct mark, the price goes up significantly. In general, the most expensive diamond shape is round cut. With other shapes, it depends. Picking out a good oval diamond is not easy (it’s actually a bit of an art) as most of them have a very prominent bow-tie. That’s something you have to avoid at all costs. Other aspects I need to take into consideration are the L:W ratio, inclusions, girdle thickness, cut and symmetry. So even though cheaper 3ct options exist, the one I sent over was the first good-looking diamond in that particular range.
Totally makes sense. I will do some thinking but may move forward with this 2ct one you found.

Keep in mind that the carat weight is not the size of the diamond, it’s its weight. Carat weight is not a good indicator of how large the diamond appears.
