I’ve been researching diamonds for an engagement ring. My plan is to get a diamond for less than $3000, and then have it set at a jeweler in town.
Are any of these diamonds significantly better or worse? Do you have any recommendations?

Blue Nile LD08892466
Blue Nile LD08882969
Blue Nile LD08949301
They are all around 0.9 ct, ideal cut. Does fluorescence play a role?
Thank you!
Can you also tell me what style of setting (solitaire, halo, pave or other) and metal (platinum/white or yellow gold) you’re going to use? Different settings suit certain colors better. I want to make sure that the stone you choose is going to look colorless.

Then I’ll be happy to comment on the stones.
She’s interested in a a thin, yellow gold solitaire. No more than 2mm thick.
……
I’ve been focusing mostly on round diamonds, but I’d also be open to oval!
Thank you for the information.
A J color round shape is perfect for the style of setting you’re planning on using.
It’s important to see a real image of diamonds with lower clarity grades (VS and lower). Especially when there are inclusions such as crystals or feathers. I need to make sure that they are not going to be eye-noticeable.
The issue with the J VS2 0.90 carat is the inclusion right on the table. I’m afraid that it will be eye-noticeable.
The first diamond is very well cut, eye-clean and going to look colorless. That’s why I like it the most:

I checked and didn’t find any better option at the moment. So if you like it, go for it.
This weekend I learned about the Holloway Cut Advisor. I know it’s not supposed to be completely relied on. But this diamond has a 0.7 score!

Do you see the inclusions in this diamond? I zoomed in as much as I could, but I don’t really know what I’m looking for.
As you’re saying, HCA is a great tool but you shouldn’t focus on it too much.
At the same time, the cut of the 0.83 carat stone is superior and it does have great overall specs. I noticed that it’s not available at the moment. Did you put it on hold?
Yes. I made the mistake of thinking about one and not putting it in hold.
So do I understand it correctly that the 0.83 carat is gone and you want to search for a new diamond?
No, I have it on hold!
So it is still available.
Thank you for the explanation.
Then I’d say that it’s a fantastic choice and if you like it, go for it.
