I love your site. It has helped me so much to focus on what is most important.
I am interested in getting a diamond for this James Allen setting:
I’ve been looking at J color diamonds with Ideal cuts for around $6,500. I want the biggest diamond I can get that is eye clean.
Do you think a J color will be OK set against 2 dark sapphires or should I go with a higher color?
I think you should stick with I color. Can you stretch your budget a bit for this?

Thank you so much Mike. Yes, I can stick with I color. Are you sure I color will be good enough. I don’t want noticeable color. A James Allan consultant said that the blue sapphire setting does not amplify color like diamond sidestones would. What do you think of these:

The first two would save me a little money, the third is a nice size, looks very clean but has medium florescence.
You have been a tremendous help to me!
I like the third diamond a lot. The other two are not eye-clean.
Thank you Mike for your confirmation. I decided to order the third diamond with the blue sapphire setting. It looks great and seems like a fair price for the carat, cut, color and clarity. It appears to me like it could be a VS2 instead of a SI1.
Sounds great. Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
