Q&A: Looking for a 1.75-1.9 Ct. Round Diamond With $15k Total Budget

By Mike Fried,

Hi, I am currently looking for a GIA/AGL diamond that is

Carat: 1.75-1.9

Color: I or Higher

Clarity: SI1 or Higher

Cut:Excellent/Ideal

Polish/Symmetry: excellent

Flurescence: Medium is acceptable

My budget is $12000 for the diamond and 15,000 for the total ring including the band. Here is an example of I diamond I am looking at
Blue Nile LD03872524

And here is the setting I was going to go with
Blue Nile Scalloped Pavé Diamond Engagement Ring

I am not sure if I am getting the best value for my dollar and appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thanks!

I’m sorry, I would never recommend buying from BN. Certainly not for an SI diamond of that size. https://www.diamonds.pro/reviews/blue-nile/

Thanks for the info. Given my original parameters what stone(s) would you recommed?

 This would be my recommendation:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.80-carat-i-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-262406?a_aid=dmnd1357

Its bright, eye-clean and a great cut. What do you think?

Hi– I like it my only concern is the cloudy area on the top left, would that be covered by the prong setting? Thanks again for taking the time to assist in my search.

You put the prong there and most will be covered. The rest will blend in to the prong and won’t be noticeable. I rarely recommend SI2 for diamonds this size. This is the best one I’ve seen in a while.
