Hello, I’m in the market for a diamond that will be going onto a platinum setting. I’m looking for either an emerald or oval cut diamond in the range of 1.4 – 1.8 ct. I’ve seen several SI1’s and SI2’s on James Allen that appear eye clean, but the cut grade isn’t quite optimal and is noted to loose some light out of the bottom of the diamond. I know that color is more important for oval and emerald shapes. I’m most concerned with value in getting a diamond that looks exceptional without overpaying. Can you recommend some examples that would be in the range of a budget ranging from $6,000-$9,000?
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Thanks for getting back to me. The ring will be going onto a platinum solitaire setting.
These would be my recommendations. What do you think?

The Emerald is perfect. Thank you so much!
Sounds great. Please let me know how it looks when it arrives.
