Greetings,
I came across your website while searching for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I read your review on Kay Jeweler’s, and we found a ring that my girlfriend really liked. It is part of the Kay Jeweler’s Tolkowsky collection, and I was wondering if you knew any additional information about whether or not they use ‘blood diamonds’. We previously visited Brilliant Earth and they made a point to say that they do not use ‘blood diamonds’, which brought up my concern about Tolkowsky diamonds.
My girlfriend loved the Tolkowsky Wedding Band 1/3 Carat tw Round-cut 14K White Gold. She fell in love with the way the ring shined and sparkled at any angle, and I was wondering your opinion on the quality of Tolkowsky diamonds, and if have any suggestions of where to find a ring of similar style of the aforementioned ring with high quality diamonds.
We were also hoping to find it in a platinum band instead of a white gold band because we heard the durability of the platinum is much greater than the white gold.
Thank you for your time.
What Brilliant Earth says has a lot of question marks.

Making sure where a diamond is from is a very difficult task. But all of the diamonds in the US market are conflict free. 99% of the diamonds come from 25 companies that do the mining/cutting. The other 1% of diamonds in the US are cut by smaller companies that typically by their rough diamonds from those same 25 companies. All of their diamond sources are 100% legitimate.
If you want the most brilliant band possible, I recommend going with Brian Gavin Diamonds.

He uses for their wedding bands diamonds with the same perfect cut as they do for center stones, so they “shine” a lot. Here is a similar design to the one you looked at Kay’s and it’s in platinum:

Thank you for your helpful insight.
I also have a few additional questions regarding both my girlfriends and my own wedding bands. My girlfriend tried on the Petite Comfort Fit Wedding Ring at Brilliant Earth and loved it. After reading your review about Brilliant Earth I was wondering if you had any suggestions of where else I could find the same wedding band aside from Brilliant Earth?
I believe my girlfriend was going to stack the wedding band and the other band we spoke of for the engagement ring together, and therefore would like to find a similar style and band width size (I believe that is the correct term, please correct me if I am wrong). I also tried on two wedding bands from Brilliant Earth that I really liked which were called the Pacifica Wedding Ring and the Canyon Wedding Ring.
I am wondering if you had any suggestions of where to find an similar style wedding band aside from Brilliant Earth? We both really liked the style of each band and how comfortable they were to wear. We are looking for our wedding bands to be made of Platinum and not white gold. I was wondering if I could find them at another place for the same or greater ring quality/craftsmanship but for a better monetary deal.
Thank you for your time.
This one is the closest to what your partner liked:

As for the man’s ring, I found three options of the second style you liked. But all of them are 6mm, not 5mm.

Thank you for your help! I was wondering if you knew the band width of the Brian Gavin’s Jeff Cooper Ring you found in platinum. I was wondering if it was the same width, wider, or thinner than the ring my girlfriend liked from Brilliant Earth? I just wanted to check to make sure the band width of the engagement ring would be the same size or slightly larger than the wedding ring band.
Thank you.
I contacted Brian Gavin and they can’t get the exact info before Monday. However, the rough estimate is 1.8mm-2mm.
Would you like them to send the request to Jeff Cooper on Monday and get the exact measurements?
Yes, please and thank you!
Also does Brian Gavin and/or Jeff Cooper have a warranty policy that covers damage, loss, theft, or possible resizing? Also, I had a similar question for the James Allen wedding ring you found. do you know their warranty policy and if it covers damage, theft, loss, or resizing?
Thank you for your time.
I’ll get back to you as soon as I find out the width.
Here are their policies:

……
Brian Gavin got back to me with the information about the width of the Jeff Cooper band. It’s 1.6mm.
Thank you!
