First, your website has been extremely helpful for my search. Thank you already on this.
However, I’m trying to find a diamond for my wife’s present (Classic Tapered Four Claw Solitaire Engagement Ring setting at Blue Nile) with a cost of 1,000€ for the diamond (0.4-0.5 carat, ideal cut). I’m buying from their UK site as we live in Finland and narrowed the search down to this:
Blue Nile LD08110728
What do you think or would you have other options?
Thanks for your help!
That diamond looks very clean, but it has a wrong certificate. There must have been a glitch in their system. Just ask for the right one and I’ll take a look at it.
Thanks for helping me out! Good catch, didn’t see that it has a wrong certificate attached to it. I asked BN to check it physically together with: Blue Nile LD08407674
to see if the cloud affects brilliance and light performance or is it local. When they get back to me I’ll request the correct one. What do you think about the other one? Does it look hazy/cloudy to you? They have reserved them to me for 48 hours.
Thanks again.
Honestly, I’m not a fan of that diamond. Its cut is off and the cloud being the only clarity characteristic is something you should be wary of.
Let’s wait till they provide you with the right certificate for the first diamond and if there are no red flags in it, let’s stick with that one.
Can Ideal cut also be off? I tried to search only ideal cuts with specific table and depth.
But I agree with the cloud, BN is checking if this is all over the diamond. But no information from them for either one.
Thanks again and I’ll get back to you.
……
Just heard back that the 0.46 is eye-clean and the certificate is correct, the color grade is wrong on their page and correct in the certificate. The 0.5 is not 100% eye-clean and has milky tinge.
Do you think the first one is a good one for us? We have it on reserve until tomorrow.
Thanks!
……
Sorry for sending so many emails, but I noticed that you are also giving coupon codes for Blue Nile UK. Would you be able to share this with me please?
Thanks again.
55-60% of all round diamonds receive an Excellent cut grade from GIA. So they can have the same grades but there is still a wide range within that quality.
Thank you for the update. I tried to search for a better diamond, but couldn’t find any. Go with that 0.46ct, it has great specs and will make a beautiful ring.
Here’s the coupon code: [contact us for your own unique coupon code]. It gives you $50 off of your order.
I hope you’ll love the ring when you receive it. If you could let me know how it looks when it arrives, I’d appreciate it.
Thank you for all the help!
