I am interested in buying some loose diamonds (2) to have some diamond stud earrings made using a martini setting in white gold. The specifications that I’m looking for are 1.50 total carat, G or H color, SI1 or 2 clarity and triple excellent cut. I have viewed some diamonds with these spec at my local jeweler but thought I should also explore this option given that I would like to find the best quality diamonds for my investment.
Many thanks.
I’d be happy to help you. Can you give me your ballpark figure of what you’re planning on spending?
Thanks for your prompt response. I should have mentioned that I live in Canada so hopefully that won’t preclude me from taking advantage of your expertise. I would prefer not to spend more than 8500 Canadian dollars including taxes. That’s really at the top end of my budget.
This morning I contacted Whiteflash to see what they have to offer because they appear to be a reputable diamond dealer. They’ve offered to send me their recommendations to look over. When I mentioned to the sales person that I wanted H color diamonds, they suggested that I consider I colored ones seeing as they will be used for earrings.
I look forward to receiving your advice/suggestions.
I agree with looking for I color diamonds. However, I’m really sorry, but we will not comment on White Flash under any circumstances. We have had terrible personal experiences with them that a) make us feel no one should ever buy from them and b) precludes us from being objective about them.
I found two pairs for you:
#1
Blue Nile LD07733167
Blue Nile LD07796217
Blue Nile Four-Claw Earrings
The total price comes to 6,571 CAD.
Here, the total comes to 7,770 CAD.
Both pairs will look amazing. Let me know what you think after reviewing them.
I noticed that the Blue Nile diamonds are larger but less expensive, why is that? Also, when looking at the diamonds on line what should I be focused on? Are the pictures of the diamonds, sample photos or the actual diamonds I’d be purchasing? Do you also work with Brian Gavin diamonds?
Blue Nile is slightly cheaper in general so you can save a little by going with them.
You are purchasing the real diamonds. You can ask BN for the actual photos to make sure the stones are eye-clean, though.
Here is a pair from BGD:

The total price is in the USD (you would have to add the taxes) and it’s also higher, but on the other hand their diamonds are exclusive.
