Hey diamond pro,
I went hunting for a diamond after reading a number of the articles on your site. I think I found one that seems fairly clean at a decent price and was hoping to get your input.
I am open to using James Allen or other sellers but have focused on Blue Nile since my partner pointed out a couple settings that she really liked on that site. I’m looking to spend less than $5000 for the diamond. The stone I’m looking at is this:
Blue Nile LD08850672
What do you think?
The issue with the stone you found is the crystal right on the table. I’m afraid that it will be eye-noticeable.
Can you also tell me what style of setting (solitaire, halo, pave or other) and metal (platinum/white or yellow gold) you’re going to use? Different settings suit certain colors better. I want to make sure that the stone I recommend is going to look colorless. Then I’ll be happy to send you my suggestion.

Thanks for your response.
I saw the crystal on the table, but thought it might not be easy to spot since it seemed fairly clear. Thanks for your input. I’m looking to put the stone in a platinum solitaire setting with the below as options:

Thanks for your help!
Thank you for the information.
Have a look at this diamond from Blue Nile:

An I color diamond is going to look colorless in a solitaire style setting. It’s very well cut and eye-clean.
If an extraordinary brilliance is what you’re looking for, then I suggest Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows. That’s exactly what they focus on and you can be sure that you’ll receive the best of diamonds. Not only do these conform to the strictest of cut parameters, but Brian himself selects them for optimal brilliance. Brian Gavin is known as one of the worlds experts when it comes to perfectly cut diamonds. If you want to spend extra on their cut, it’s a great way to go. Here’s a fantastic choice from their site:

or this one:

What do you think?
Thanks for your help. I’m interested in Brian Gavin for the brilliance and I like the Ashleigh setting a lot; unfortunately, these two stones seem to have a really high premium and I was hoping to get a slightly bigger stone for less. I noticed this stone on their site that seems like a good deal but it was reserved. I sent them a message asking if they could inform me if the status changed and I let them know that I heard about them through you:

I also noticed this stone which seems like a decent deal, but I am very concerned about the crystal right on the table:

Let me know what you think or if there are any other great stones at a good value.
Thanks.
As you mentioned, the crystal on the table is an issue. I’m afraid that it will be eye-visible.
If you’re willing to go down with the color grade, a J color stone is going to look colorless and this way we can maximize your budget:

What do you think of this one?
That does seem like a good option. I am not sure I am willing to go lower than “I” quiet yet.
I found these two:

I thought they might be a good value. The smaller one seems to be cut better, but I am worried about the inclusions on the table. What do you think?
Thanks!
OK, not a problem. I or J color is perfect for a solitaire style setting. But you can stick with I if you feel more comfortable with this grade.
I’m also afraid that the inclusions right on the table of the smaller stone will be eye-noticeable. That’s why I like the 1.008 carat more. It’s a fantastic way to go.
Let me know what you decide.
Unfortunately the second fluorescent diamond I wanted to purchase was sold to someone else the day I last communicated with you. I ended up purchasing one of the original Brian Gavin Diamonds that you showed me, the .910 I VS1 stone.
I just wanted to thank you for your help and let you know that I used this email address when purchasing and also informed them that diamond.pro introduced me to Brian Gavin.
Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words and confirmation of the email address.
It was my pleasure helping you. Feel free to contact me again if there’s anything I can do for you in the future.
And I’m curious how you like the stone once it arrives. Please, let me know.
