I am looking for a princess cut diamond, to be set in platinum or white gold. My budget is around $5k, I want a minimum of 1ct center stone, but would prefer bigger if possible.
I haven’t 100% decided on the setting, I like the look of the solitaire with baguettes side stones, I also like the channel, and pave look. I like but slightly less the halo, but I know it is a very popular look.
If I have read correctly for Cut I should be alright with anything Good of Very Good, and still have a beautiful ring. If this correct?
Color I believe you said G – I for white gold or platinum. With the naked eye is the H or I gonna show any coloring? Or should I look more at a G or better?
Clarity – this is the big one, that I was more confused on after reading the article. If I understand it depends more on the location of the inclusion more so that size. So do I need to stick to VVS1 or VVS2?
1) We use our own parameters for princess cuts to maximize brilliance.
Depth: 68-75 (ideal: 69-74)
Table: 69-75 (ideal: 70-74)
L:W ratio under 1.04
2) Either a solitaire or a pave setting work well with an I color. Halos, however, have additional diamonds around the center stone and thus higher color grade is needed to make sure it looks colorless compared to them.
3) Exactly so. You don’t have to pay a premium for the highest grades. Once the diamond is eye-clean, it’s simply eye-clean regardless of what the actual grade is.
Now, on to the diamonds. I looked around and I like these options for you:

They are well cut, eye-clean and either of them will be very brilliant.
What do you think?
I like both of these stones, and I appreciate all the information you as well as your website provide.
I’m still trying to decide on the right time to buy as well as the setting I like most.
…
Can I have a new recommendation, please?
Sure.

It has great specs and is going to look great in any halo setting you choose.
What do you think?
PLATINUM SPLIT SHANK PRINCESS SHAPE DIAMOND HALO ENGAGEMENT RING
This is the setting I’m going with. Id really like to keep it around $6500. Do you see anything closer to the $3500 with good specs that won’t hurt the overall look of the ring?
If not, I can up it if I have too
I found this one that’s almost the size of the 1ct:

I hate to drop below 1ct, but I do like that price better.
No worries. Nobody will be able to see the difference.
I did end up going with a different diamond. However, I do appreciate your help. The education of 4 c’s on your website helped me make a confident purchase.
Thanks again for your help and resources.
Thank you for letting me know that. I appreciate it.
