Hello, I have been researching diligently to find the right diamond for an engagement ring! My girlfriend seems to like white gold/platinum halo styled engagement rings and I have found a couple rings from Brilliant Earth and James Allen that she would love. I’m thinking she would prefer a round or cushion cut diamond to go along with it!
I have read that halo rings are good at making a diamond look larger than they actually are. I was thinking about getting a diamond that is around .75 carat but am totally open to your recommendation of size. My budget for the entire ring is 5-6 thousand dollars Canadian and the ring settings I have looked at are in the 1800 -2200$ range. I have done research on diamonds and have an idea of the 4 Cs but looking at a diamond I find it difficult to differentiate between good and bad diamonds.
I have provided a link to the ring that I am leaning towards most:

Your help is greatly appreciated!
Does your budget include taxes as well? Where are you located?
My budget is 5-6 thousand after taxes! I also am consulting with a custom jeweler in my city with the same design in mind to see what can of ring they can make and their estimate!
I would like have a loose diamond for them to put in so that I know I am getting a rock that she will truly love. I am located in Manitoba!
Thanks for the details.
I found this ring for you:
Blue Nile LD07980256
Blue Nile Floating Halo Diamond Engagement Ring
The total after taxes should be around C$5,000.
Let me know what you think.
I absolutely love the diamond it looks gorgeous but I have looked at that ring before and like everything about it but I don’t like how it is floating (space between the main diamond and the smaller diamonds around it).
It is also awesome that the diamond is duty free!
How about this setting?
