I would appreciate your assistance in selecting a diamond from James Allen.
I am looking for a round brilliant, Ideal Cut, Triple Excellent, 1.5 carat, with minimum H color. I am open to SI1 so long as it’s eye clean. My max budget for the stone is $12,000. I am going to set it in a platinum setting.
Thanks.
Here’s my suggestion of a stone with the quality I’d recommend:
What do you think?
Unfortunately, that diamond has sold. Another option?
I’m sorry to hear that the stone was gone so quickly.
Have a look at this one:
We had to purchase last night due to an unexpected trip and ended up choosing something similar. Thank you for your help.
It was my pleasure helping you.
Please let me know how you like the stone once it arrives.
I am still waiting for the ring, but I wanted to get your opinion. The diamond has dimensions of 7.31*7.26*4.56 with table 57%, depth 62.5%, crown angle 35.5, crown percentage 16, pavilion angle 40.6. 1.01 l/w ratio.
The dimensions are a little smaller than the original diamond you showed me. I am concerned that the new diamond will face up looking like a smaller carat weight. Your thoughts? Thanks.
The dimensions are only a little smaller. And the depth and table % are great. I don’t see a reason to worry about that. I’d wait for the stone.
And if there’s something you don’t like about it once it arrives, I’ll be happy to help you with the search again.
This is the diamond I purchased. I am concerned that it looks a little cloudy. Is it just bad lighting? The GIA notes some clouds. Thank you for your opinion.

I checked the specifications and I don’t really see a reason for it to be hazy. Everything seems to be fine. Fluorescence is none. Twinning wisps are usually not visible to the naked eye. And the clouds are so tiny that these definitely won’t cause haziness.
If you want we can look for some other options. But I think that everything is in line with this one.
I looked at other 1.5cts at my local jeweler, and I really don’t like that this one faces up slightly smaller. James Allen says I can swap out the stone, but I need to tell them which stone I want.
I want a 1.5ct no lower than H GIA triple excellent with minimal light leakage. Still open to SI1 so long as it’s eye clean. My max budget is $12,500.
OK, let’s find another option.
This diamond has a better cut than the one you bought.
What do you think of this one?
It looks beautiful. I will contact James Allen. Thanks again for your help.
…
Is this one worth the extra money?
This one is also beautiful. I just noticed that this stone is not available at the moment. Did you put it on hold? If so, how much is it?
Yes, it is on hold as I wanted to get your opinion. It’s $12,090. The JA rep suggested it.
The price is also great and it has a fantastic cut. If you like it, go for it.
