Hi Diamond Pro,
I am planning to propose to my girlfriend and need help picking out a beautiful 1ct diamond.
My budget is: $4500-$5500 Canadian for the diamond.
Setting: Petite Micropavé Diamond Engagement Ring
I found two diamonds on the Blue Nile website, can you please let me know what you think?
Thank you.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend either one. The first one is cut too deep (ideally, the depth should be around 60/61% but should go over 62.6% if you want to get the most of the brilliance). The second one is cut nicely but it has a strong fluorescence which usually causes a hazy/milky look in daylight.

I couldn’t find any eye-clean and well cut 1.ct diamond, but this 0.92ct would look amazing:
Blue Nile LD12040629
It has some inclusions but they won’t be visible to the naked eye and the size difference won’t be noticeable.
I will keep the 0.92ct diamond in mind, but can we keep looking for 1ct diamonds because that is the minimum CT that I am looking for.
Are you willing to go higher in the budget?
That would be a great option if you put it into a solitaire setting. The J color would look a bit yellowish in the pave you chose.
