I’m looking for something below $5,000. G color or better, Excellent or better cut, VVS2 or better clarity. The carat size I’m somewhat flexible since my girlfriend has small fingers. I’ve been looking from anywhere of 0.85 to 1.10 carats. I was thinking either Channel or Cathedral setting.
As far as those style settings go, you don’t have to aim for such a high color grade. You can easily go with an H and it would look identical. Clarity grade is even less important. As long as the diamond is eye-clean, it’s simply eye-clean regardless of its grade. An eye-clean SI stone would look identical to an IF in real life.

This diamond has a beautiful cut and would be very bright and brilliant in any setting you’d put it into.
This does look great! Do you think it’s a reasonable price? Compared to similar diamonds and other sites. And would it better to buy the setting at the same time? Not sure if buying both saves any money, etc.

It’s always easier to buy both the setting and the loose diamond from the same vendor. They’ll set it for you and you’ll receive a complete ring. Buying the setting separately might also affect the warranty and maintenance. So if you can, I’d definitely get the whole piece from the same company.
