Hi,
I have a budget of about $4000. I am looking for an Excellent cut, J color or better, eye-clean, about 0.9 – 1 carat diamond. I’d like to stretch the table as much as possible without sacrificing brilliance with a minimum diameter of about 6.3 mm. I’d appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks.
Can you also tell me what style of setting (solitaire, halo, pave or other), metal (platinum/white or yellow gold) and shape of diamond you’re looking for? Different settings suit certain colors better. Then I’ll be happy to send you my suggestions.
Thanks for getting back to me! To answer your questions, I am most likely going with this setting: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=5548
In platinum, with a round cut diamond. Also, while I’d like to stay at $4000 or less, I could potentially stretch the budget to about $4200 if it meant getting an appreciably better diamond.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
Thanks.
Thank you for the information.
I found this 1.01 carat stone with great overall specifications:
Blue Nile LD09355324
It’s very well cut and J color is going to look colorless in the style of setting you like. If you’re fine with stretching your budget a little, this is a perfect option of a 1.00 carat stone.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for the recommendation. This diamond does mostly hit the specs I’m looking for, I’m just concerned about the strong fluorescence. I’ve read on your site and others that this can lead to a hazy appearance. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks.
Strong fluorescence on high colors can cause a hazy look. But it can help J and lower colors to look slightly brighter.
There’s no need to worry about that. If you like this stone, go for it.
