Hoping you can help me find a great Marquise Diamond for an engagement ring.
It needs to be at least 1 ct, and more of a rounded Marquise shape (she finds some too pointy and aggressive in shape), and set in a platinum band.
The main priority is getting a great looking, and large stone for an excellent price. It would be better if the stone is shallow and wide, rather than thin, and deep to get maximum bang for buck.
If it has flaws that can be hidden by how is it set, great. I just want something that looks really special.
Budget is in and around $5-6k. Might spend a bit more, but definitely happy to spend less too.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Solitaire style, with white gold 18k, or platinum (preferable) is what I’m after.
She (like most females) is carat hungry, so the closer we can get to a 1.5 carat, the better.
Looking forward to your suggestions, and thanks for offering such a great service.
I think this is your best bet:
Thanks for that.
On examining the pictures, it seems very scratched in many places. What magnification are the rotating non 40x pictures at, as
I can still see them in this.
Would this be visible to the eye?
I think you should ask James Allen to have their gemologist inspect it to confirm.
