Hi — I am in the market for a diamond ring and here’s what I’ve narrowed down my search criteria to:
Color: I (or better)
Clarity: VS2 (or better)
Cut: Excellent
Carats: 1 to 1.5
Band: Platinum or White gold.
Here’s where I’m struggling — my girlfriend loves rings with filigree and intricate work around the stone. I haven’t found great options on James Allen or some of the more popular retailers.
I would prefer to buy from a place that has a 30 day return policy so that I can give my girlfriend the option to exchange it. After all, she has to wear it all the time!
One thing I found that seemed interesting, but seems to hide a lot of the stone was here:

Do you guys have any recommendations or thoughts on this?
Thanks!
Well, we don’t recommend purchasing from Brilliant Earth, here is why: https://www.diamonds.pro/brilliant-earth-review/
Have a look at these settings:
Blue Nile Heirloom Petite Milgrain Engagement Ring
Blue Nile Tendril Diamond Engagement Ring
Do you think your partner would like any of them?
Can you tell me what shape of diamond you’re looking for and what your approximate budget is? Then I’ll be happy to help you with the search.
Hi — Thank you for the suggestions. I think the first two are still a bit too simple, the third one is interesting but probably not quite her style.
In terms of the shape of the diamond, I’m probably thinking round, although open to options depending on the right setting. For budget, targeting <$10k.
Also, here’s one of her more simpler rings.
Thank you for the information.
What about this one?
It seems similar in style.
One last question, the mentioned budget is for the whole ring?
I don’t completely love that style either.
One thing I know now is that she likes emerald cut diamonds (this setting doesn’t work with that)
My budget is in the ~$10k range.
I suggest contacting James Allen and Blue Nile directly. They will be able to help you more with the setting.
I found this emerald shape diamond:
It’s very well cut, eye-clean and going to look colorless in a pave/side stone setting. It also leaves some space in your budget for the setting.
What do you think?
I like that diamond a lot! I will be on the look-out for better settings. Thanks for your help!
I’m happy that you like the diamond so much.
I hope you find the right setting soon. Just to let you know, it’s possible that the stone will be gone in a couple of days. I recommend purchasing it now, if you want it.
