Hi there,
I’ve been reading all of your articles in order to make the best decision. I am hoping to get a rose gold or yellow gold ring with a cushion halo and a round diamond. We are looking at diamonds on Ritani as we felt they have the best prices. Please let me know what you think of this diamond.

I wouldn’t go lower than an I color for a halo setting. J would have too much of a yellow tint. What do you think of these two diamonds instead?

That’s good to know! Even if the halo is rose gold a J will still look yellow?
I’m getting really confused with the clarity. Some SI1-SI2 seem to have a lot of inclusions, but I can’t tell if you’ll be able to see them in person. For this reason I’ve been looking mostly at VS2 diamonds. What do you think? The diamond price we’d like to stay under 10,000 CAD.
Ask for their actual photos. From the clarity plots in the certs, they seem to be fine (the first one has mostly twinning wisps which aren’t visible to the naked eye in 95%).
As for the color, yes, J would be too yellow in a halo setting. The smaller diamonds around the center stone would make the color difference.
OK, I’ve asked for photos, any diamonds you recommend from James Allen?
The cheapest eye-clean option on JA was this 1.43ct one:

Ritani sent over the image of the 1.5, they are unable to get images of the 1.43. You can view it at this link.

If they put the prong close to the feather on the side (it won’t reach it but it would be very close to it), it could distract from the inclusion. Other than that, it looks amazing.
OK, perfect! I have one last ring, what do you think about this one?

Thanks for the help!
That one looks even better. The inclusions are not visible and the price difference is almost nothing.
