Hi,
I’m looking for a diamond ring for around $5,000 including the setting. Round or princess stone. Would you give me some recommendations?
Thank you.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations for you, but I need a little more info.
What style setting (solitaire, pave/side stones/halo) and metal (yellow/white gold, platinum) do you want to use? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Hi,
Thank you. For the setting, I would like a solitaire setting in yellow gold.
Great, thank you for the info.
I looked around and I like these options for you:
Blue Nile East-West Solitaire Engagement Ring
Blue Nile Petite Cathedral Solitaire Engagement Ring
Blue Nile Classic Six-Prong Solitaire Engagement Ring
Blue Nile LD07957625
Blue Nile LD06647152
These diamonds are beautifully cut and either of them will be very brilliant in any of those settings.
What do you think?
I like the cathedral setting. What do you think about this one compared to the ones you suggested? It’s SI1 rather than VS1 but a higher carat.
That one is not eye-clean and I’m also not a huge fan of its cut. It won’t be as brilliant as my diamonds.
Do you have any thoughts on this diamond?
Blue Nile LD06248446
……
Or this one?
Blue Nile LD08313259
Sorry I didn’t get a chance to purchase the ones you recommended. The delivery dates for those are now at the earliest next week, but I need something by Friday. Is there anything you would recommend?
Blue Nile LD06248446 – this one is most likely not eye-clean and the angles are off
Blue Nile LD08313259 – it doesn’t look bad, but I was able to find something better cut for less
This diamond would be the best choice:
Blue Nile LD08135446
It’s well cut and strong fluorescence will help it look a tad whiter.
Thoughts?
The one you suggested looks great. I just purchased it on Blue Nile.
Thanks again!
That’s great news! I’m glad I could help you decide on the diamond.
I hope you love it when you receive it If you could let me know how it looks when it arrives, I’d appreciate it.
My girlfriend would like to get a halo ring instead, so I had to return the one I ordered before.
She would like this halo ring in white gold:
Blue Nile Classic Halo Diamond Engagement Ring
What would be a good diamond to pair with it? She would like a 1.1-1.2 carat ring and found this one:
Blue Nile LD08546668
But I don’t think it’s worth paying the premium for the VVS2 clarity. Would you have a recommendation for one in that carat range for around $5,000 (not including the ring)?
Thanks!
I’m sorry for the delay, I was under the weather.
Thank you for the update. As far as a halo goes, H+ is what we recommend at the lowest to make sure there is no yellowness in it. As for the clarity grade, well, sometimes you can find a VVS diamond that is a better value than an eye-clean SI-VS. It depends.
I like these two for you:
Blue Nile LD08091054
It’s fantastically cut and medium fluorescence will help it look a bit whiter.
Blue Nile LD07794722
This one is also cut very nicely.
What do you think?
Thank you. Would you have recommendations closer to the 1 carat range?
This diamond looks great:
Blue Nile LD08664327
It has fantastic specs.
Thoughts?
Hi, the last ring you found is no longer available. Would you have another one you recommend?
Sure. Here’s a lovely alternative:
