Hi there,
I have a question on diamond certification.
I came across this band on the Ritani website:
www.ritani.com/wedding-rings/women-s-round-cut-diamond-prong-set-eternity-band-in-platinum/17419
I got in touch with customer service to ask whether they could customize it with better color/clarity diamond, and they said they can do it and can also do certified diamonds. They told me the band as it is on the website is made of non certified diamonds which I found odd. Is it normal for small carat diamonds used for bands/eternity rings to not be certified? The final quote they gave me for certified diamonds of color E/F and VS2 clarity in platinum was 8600 USD for a size 5.5 which I found quite expensive.
Do you know if Tiffany bands are made of certified diamonds?
Many thanks in advance!
It’s absolutely normal that smaller diamonds aren’t certified. Getting the certification is usually too expensive for those stones and it doesn’t make any sense to do it. People aren’t usually able to spot any inclusions in those stones and if they match in color (even if they don’t have a specific color grade on the paper), it’s all good.
I found a few more and you can see that they all are uncertified as well. I would be very surprised if Tiffany had them certified.

Thanks so much for your response!
The second and third ring you sent me are really nice, but I found another ring I’m really interested in, so wanted to have your opinion on it, and on the company as well.
What do you think in terms of price/diamond quality?
Thanks a million!
That’s an excellent choice! Brian Gavin is known as one of the world’s experts when it comes to perfectly cut diamonds. BGD’s Signature diamonds are truly fantastic. They are all incredibly brilliant.
BGD is the safest way to make sure the ring will have an amazing “sparkle”.
Thanks! I’ll likely be purchasing that ring.
Can you just let me know if these specs (Ideal, Signature cut F/G VS) are good? The individual stones will be .1 carat so not entirely sure which of the Cs are important for such small diamonds…
Thanks again!
The Cs are not that important here as the diamond is pretty small for someone to see a big difference. However, a perfect cut is what you’re looking for anyways. The better the cut, the more the diamond “shines”. That’s why I’m 100% for the BGD ring as they really know what they are doing.
