Hi! I’m looking for a cushion cut diamond for this setting from James Allen:
www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/14k-white-gold-round-split-band-diamond-halo-engagement-ring-item-49498?a_aid=dmnd1357
I’d like something over 1.0 carat as it’s a pretty substantial setting and spend less than $8,000. Everytime I think I’ve found the one, the expert gemologist dings it based on the crown/pavilion angles or the depth.
Can you help? What features do you think are most important for this setting?
This diamond is perfect for the style of setting you like:

It’s very well cut, eye-clean and going to look colorless.

What do you think?
Thanks for getting back to me!
The diamonds in the halo and on the band of the setting I chose are F-G on average according to the website. Does it make sense to at least match the color grading since there are so many?
Additionally – do you think 1.0 carat is large enough for this setting? I have been trying to find something closer to 1.25. While I’d love to only pay $3400 for the diamond, I am comfortable paying more! My gf has short stocky fingers (one of the reasons I chose this thicker setting). I don’t want the diamond to get swallowed up by the setting or her fingers!
Thanks!
An H color stone is going to look colorless. I wouldn’t go lower but the diamonds aside are small so the difference won’t be noticeable.

As for the size, I believe that this is mainly the matter of your personal taste. What one thinks is small, the other thinks is too big.
If you wish for a 1.20 carat diamond, here’s a great option:www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.22-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-2676162?a_aid=dmnd1357
It’s significantly over the budget you first mentioned. But if you’re willing to pay the extra buck, this is a great way to go.
Let me know what you think.
My apologies for just now getting back to you! My brother got married over the weekend so I was worried about someone else’s diamonds!
I think my initial request was confusing – let’s say my budget for the diamond ONLY is $6,500. I’m willing to stretch that more for a great stone.
The last diamond you sent me is not longer available. Do you have other suggestions for diamonds closer to 1.25 carats (or more if possible)?
Thanks!
Congratulation on your brother’s wedding.
Here’s another option:

It’s very well cut, eye-clean and with great overall specifications.
What do you think?
I think that may be the one!
I’m happy to hear that you like my suggestion.
Keep me posted.
