Hi,
I’m looking for a diamond with these basic characteristics. I’ve followed your suggestion to look primarily at Blue Nile and James Allen. They’ve suggested the following options, but I wanted to get your unbiased opinion.
Specs:
Emerald shape
>1.0 ct
ideal cut
>VVS1
>H color
James Allen suggestions:

Do these look like good deals to you? Curious to know your thoughts. Also, if anything about the specs I’ve listed seems odd, please let me know!
Lastly, I’ve found your site incredibly helpful. Thanks so much!
I like these two from those you picked out:
One of the other ones is a bit too black and the last JA one isn’t better value than the two above here.
The BN one doesn’t have a real photo which is a problem. You need to be able to see how the diamond looks. Plus it has a strong fluorescence which usually causes a hazy/milky look. https://www.diamonds.pro/education/fluorescence/
I found this one that looks great as well:

Let me know what you think.
like the two that James Allen recommended because I like the VVS1 clarity.
What’s the best way to decide between this two diamonds?
…
One additional thing I noticed: the 6684324 diamond has a crown of 25, the 5294096 has a crown of 49. Is this an issue? I see a note on James Allen that says a well cut diamond should have a crown of 33-35 degrees.
The crown angle is fine on both. It doesn’t matter much. You always have to look at the diamond itself. The crown that is undesirable is a flat one. That doesn’t retract the light much and you end up with a dull stone. That’s not the case of any of the diamonds in question.
Both of the VVS diamonds are beautiful and you can’t go wrong with them. Decide how much you want to spend and what shape you like more. I, personally, like the 1.45 ratio more, but every person is different.
Thank you!!!
My pleasure.
