Hi,
I’m shopping for engagement rings and your site has been an extremely helpful resource. I’ve narrowed the diamond search to the best round cut for $14k.
This one from JA looks good to me but your selection tool found the one below it. What considerations for the clarity versus cut should be made?
I wouldn’t recommend that stone (www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.01-carat-i-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-6109917?a_aid=dmnd1357) because of the IGI cert. They are looser in grading than GIA or AGS (https://www.diamonds.pro/education/igi/). GIA and AGS are the most consistent and reliable labs.
I like the stone Ringo found for you: www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.01-carat-i-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-5214799?a_aid=dmnd1357. It’s perfectly cut. The feather might be covered with a prong. I couldn’t find any better option at this moment.
Please let me know your thoughts. Also, can you please tell me what setting style you’re planning to go with?
I am planning to go with a pave setting, similar to this one: 14K WHITE GOLD 0.32CT FRENCH CUT PAVE DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING
I see your point regarding what I’ve seen from IGI relative to GIA/AGS. Perhaps it is my untrained eye but it looked pretty good in the images. The Ringo selection does have that visual imperfection but is it possible to cover with a prong given the setting design?
Thank you for sharing the info. I color works well with a pave setting. Yes, that feather on 4 o’clock that could be covered with a prong.
Thanks for the feedback.
I am leaning towards the 2.01 and am hoping the “I” color will be good enough in the setting.
Sounds like a plan. Let me know how you like it when it arrives.
