I’m a huge fan of your site and can’t thank you enough for all of the great information on the site. Definitely helps me feel like I know a little something about an expensive and daunting process and can be a more educated buyer.
I’m asking for your help in purchasing a loose diamond for an engagement ring. I am looking for the classic round cut and will place in a platinum solitaire. Based on everything you’ve said, I’m looking to buy from James Allen. I’d like a stone that’s around one carat – at least 0.96 so I can round up, although 1.0 is best.
Thanks in advance!
I love this diamond for you:
Its bright, eye-clean and will look great in a solitaire. What do you think?
Thanks! The diamond is beautiful, and I love how even at SI1 clarity there are no visible occlusions! My only question is whether or not it’s worth upgrading to “H” color given that it will be in a platinum ring. Thoughts
I do not think so. We recommend J+ for platinum. If its in the budget I go up to “I” for piece of mind. But there is no reason to go up to H (and no end, as you can then say go up to G).
Thanks for the assistance and the recommendations – I proposed and she said yes! The diamond, of course, is absolutely gorgeous and your advice saved me a ton of $$.
If there’s anything I can do to thank you folks, let me know.
