Q&A: Finding a 1 Ct. Round Diamond for a White Gold Solitaire Ring with Around $4k-$5k Budget

Hello,I have a very special young lady who is need of a diamond. Trying to educate myself before popping the question, and your site has been extremely helpful. I’m on board with your approach to color so I am solely looking at diamonds in the H-J range, and then trying to find largest GIA certified I can that is SI1, SI2, or a preferable I1. Setting will be in 14/18k white gold.

Here are a couple starting points I’ve found. Any guidance/advice/etc. you could provide would be greatly appreciated. (Please note that all the BN diamond in this article are comparable alternatives to those that were originally here because the previous company doesn’t exist anymore.)

I really like this diamond minus the inclusion in the center. How noticeable would it be? They call it eye-clean, but I’m pretty skeptical. Still seems like a good value though.

Really interested in your thoughts on this one. You tend to prefer James Allen, but this seems like a good deal. What do you think?

Thanks for the help. I will defer to your advice on b2c. If you ever have a spare second to drum up some suggestions in that price range for a solitaire setting, I would more than welcome them. Trying to do the searching on my lunch period at work, and I’m clearly in over my head!

 I agree, that looks like exactly what I’m looking for. The only inclusion my untrained eye can see looks like it would be easily prong-able. Great work! The website says I can put this on 24 hour hold, so I’m going to try that. I had this elaborate plan worked out to get her ring size, but I may have to scrap that and come up with a new plan today.
