You previously assisted with locating some diamond earrings, could you help again with an engagement ring please?
Thanks in advance.
Can you tell me what shape diamond, style setting (solitaire, pave/side stones, halo) and metal (yellow gold, white gold, platinum) are you looking for?
Also, what is your ballpark budget?
I was thinking that it would be a vintage style ring on platinum. Ballpark budget £2k.
Thanks!
Should there be additional diamonds in the band? Would you like one of the following ones?
Blue Nile Vintage Diamond Rings
Yes, there is a ring on there which would be great. It’s the Milgrain Marquise.
What colour and clarity diamond would you suggest I should be considering?
Are you looking for a round diamond? If so, this would be a perfect choice:

I searched for I+ color diamonds and this one happened to be the best option.
Also, I recommend getting white gold over platinum. The reason is the huge disparity in upfront costs. As our article says, the WG has to be dipped every few years and the platinum needs to be polished as well because it scratches. So ultimately, platinum costs you more in the beginning and doesn’t end up saving you any money in the long run.
……
Actually, this one will be a better choice even tho it doesn’t have a photo (you can request it):

I have just ordered the diamond ring.
Very happy with your help!
Great news! It was my pleasure.
Let me know how it looks when you receive it.
Unfortunately, I’ve just received an email to say that the diamond you recommended was sold just before I placed my order.
Could you please recommend another?
Please note that due to the savings on buying a white gold ring (instead of platinum) I now have up to £850 to spend on the diamond.
Many thanks!
I’m sorry to hear that. What do you think of this diamond?

The price jump for a larger diamond is way too much. If you wanted a 0.50ct, it would cost around £1k.
Thank you very much. Nice choice – and Blue Nile seem to have given it to me at the original price, saving me £150!
That’s even better!
Let me know how it goes.
