If setting in a platinum semi bezel solitaire, round shape diamond, with a budget around $3,000 for a diamond, what color, clarity, cut, size, etc would be best as a modest ring? I am thinking 0.75 to 1.25 carat.
Thank you!
Something like this would be my recommendation:

What do you think?
Thank you for your reply.
For someone on a budget, what is your take on synthetic diamonds (not simulated, but actually lab created)? It seems they are sometimes much less expensive, but sometimes, not by much, though the environmental impact would be far less. Any advice you might have is appreciated. My thought is to purchase the correct setting in platinum and then have the stone eventually replaced with a real diamond when financial situation allows.
Thank you!
I am a pretty ethical consumer on many fronts. That said, I don’t think there is any documented proof that they actually have a significant change in your environmental impact. In fact, I think the best ethical choice is to avoid these gimmick sites like Brilliant Earth and buy a diamond from a typical US online retailer. You are most likely buying a diamond from a developing country that helps build their economy. Diamonds from Botswana have vastly improved their infrastructure the last 20 years.
Additionally, there is no savings by buying an artificially created diamond. They don’t use legitimate certification, so the grades are inflated.
