I’m interested in a round diamond for a petite, solitaire 14k white gold band. My budget is $3,500-4,500 and I was hoping for a diamond between 0.9-1.1 carats. I’m really more interested in the way the diamond looks than I am the size, provided it is within my range, but if it could be over 1.0 carats, that would be a plus.
I found this combination and thought you might like it:
Blue Nile LD07957625
Blue Nile Classic Four Prong Engagement Ring
The diamond is almost a 1 ct, but the price is lower than you would pay for a full carat. It’s eye-clean and will look very bright and brilliant. Let me know what you think.
Thank you for your input. When I got your last email, I wasn’t quite ready to buy, but I think I am now. I have still been looking into a couple other options in stores, but after looking today, I was not pleased. The diamonds I saw today were visibly included and they had some yellow tint to them. The jeweler told me I had a very sharp eye for being able to pick out the things I didn’t like about the diamonds, I’ll give the credit to the Diamond Pro for educating me with the tools I needed to avoid wasting my money – THANK YOU! I think they were EGL certified, which as I’ve learned on your website is basically worthless.
Anyway, I am really after a diamond that is going to be eye grabbing and clean. I rechecked your link and I think the diamond you suggested is still available. As to the band itself, my soon to be fiance has gone back and forth between a few styles since I first reached out to you. First and foremost, the emphasis must be on the diamond, she wants it to be the focal point and things that draw too much attention away from it are a no. She wants a fairly simple band, although she’s shown interest in some twisting styles. Thin, petite bands are good, but she likes smooth ones as well as some of the pave bands. I’m most concerned with finding the right diamond, I just want to make sure it will look good with whatever setting I choose. If it’s a simple band, I think she would be happiest with it being under 2.0mm in width.
Some of my ideas for settings are:
Blue Nile Petite Micropavé Diamond Engagement Ring
Blue Nile Petite Twist Diamond Engagement Ring
Blue Nile Petite Cathedral Solitaire Engagement Ring
I’m open to suggestions on the setting. I’m kind of being torn in different directions. I realize that I might be limited in what I can do with a band by being more strict with the diamond, which I’m fine with.
Thanks again for all of your help!
……
I think I’ve narrowed it down to this band. So, I’d like to keep the total cost under $5,000 and also have the diamond as close to 1 carat as possible.
Blue Nile Petite Diamond Engagement Ring
Thanks again!
The largest diamond I could find within 5k including the setting was around 0.90ct. I’d pick one of these two:
Blue Nile LD08858382
Blue Nile LD08733841
Great, thank you!
There is only the 360 view on the second diamond. I’m fine getting that one so long as you recommend it. I just don’t want to be missing out on the first one if it was slightly nicer.
Also, I saw something on your website about a discount code for Blue Nile. Is this something that is available?
Thanks again!
Both diamonds are amazing. The first one is slightly larger and the VVS clarity will always be eye-clean. You can’t go wrong with either one.
