Hello, I have recently started engagement ring shopping. Currently I have looked at the 14K Rose Gold Twisted Pave Halo Engagement ring by James Allen and the very 14K Rose Gold Cordoba Diamond Ring on Brilliant Earth (James Allen doesn’t seem to offer a size 5.75 but BE does, are they recommended?). I really like these two settings but would hate put all my money into the setting if the centerpiece is not worth it. My girlfriend likes rose gold, round diamonds, and a little bit of variation on the band (a little twisting or turning not necessarily diamonds).
Anyways when it came to selecting the diamond the websites made it easy to narrow down carat, cut, clarity and color but I realized I was in a bit over my head when I started looking at table, depth, cutlet and girdle. I am not set on the banding and am open to suggestions. Her ring size is a 5.75 and I would like to stay around 5000 but have a max budget of 6500. Any recommendations or information would be much appreciated.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations for you, but I’m sorry, I can’t comment on anything from Brilliant Earth. Brilliant Earth is priced significantly higher than their competitors. They make several claims about offering added value over their competitors (most notably their “beyond conflict-free” pledge). Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we are unable to verify that these claims are true (they have rebuffed our attempts to verify, even our offer to fly on our own expense to check their sources).
At this point, I can’t recommend a company that has inflated prices without knowing there is a justification for those prices.
I searched JA website and this would be my recommendation from them:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.90-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2377457?a_aid=dmnd1357
This diamond is well cut, eye-clean and will be very brilliant in the setting you picked.
What do you think?
Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. After reviewing I have realized that the $6500 range is probably most appropriate. With that said I do like the diamond that you have selected but I sincerely do want a diamond that may have visible color differences or a visible inclusions and to be honest I am not 100% sure what that risk really is. Perhaps I should ask that your opinion on that matter. I would also prefer to have at least .8 carats as I understand that putting a greater emphasis on color and clarity means sacrificing other characteristics. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks!
I’m a little confused now: you do want or don’t want to get a diamond with visible color and inclusions? The diamond I sent you will appear colorless in the setting you picked on JA. Do you want to decrease the color grade?
Sorry for any confusion. I do not want a diamond with visible color or inclusions. I just wanted to be sure of this.
Alright.
Do you still want to see some other options?
I ordered the ring with the diamond you recommend and it is gorgeous and as advertised!
Thank you for your help in this process.
That’s great news! Glad I could help.
I wish you and your partner a life of happiness and fulfillment.
