Hi there,
Thank you for your wonderful site and all the information provided on it.
I’m hoping you might be able to assist me. After 7 years together my partner has finally worn me down and so I have found myself spending far too much time trawling diamond retailers.
My partner is adamant she wants a 1.5ct pear shaped diamond in a white gold halo setting. Unfortunately however our budget is only approx $8,000 AUD (about 5,600 USD) this obviously leaves us with very few options at the size she wants.
James Allen has a couple of options at that size within our budget, however I am very concerned that the colour (particularly) of these options will be ultimately disappointing in the setting she is after. Although she insists she’s not worried – I’d still really appreciate some advice as to what might be the best looking option within that budget. (very quietly if the stone were to be slightly smaller I’m sure she wouldn’t know).
Very much appreciate any advice/recommendations you might be able to provide.
Kind regards.
Since you plan to use a halo style setting, I wouldn’t go lower than for an H+ color grade.
Is the budget you mentioned for the whole ring or the stone only? Also, are you planning to use a halo with or without pave?
I’m asking to know what’s the budget for the stone only.
Thank you for getting back to me.
The budget is unfortunately for the whole ring although I may be able to stretch a little further if required (though not much). The halo is with pave.
If you need any further info please let me know.
Many thanks.
Thank you for the information.
Here’s a setting that matches what you’re looking for:
Blue Nile Pear Shaped Halo Diamond Engagement Ring
I’m afraid that I won’t find a 1.50 quality diamond within the budget you mentioned. Here’s the best stone I found with the quality I’d recommend:
Blue Nile LD08135852
Here’s another one with a different ratio:
Blue Nile LD07394253
If you want to get a bigger stone, you’d have to increase your budget.
Let me know what you think.
Thank you very much for your response – and my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
After subtly mentioning to my partner your findings I’m afraid she was quite adamant she wanted the larger stone even if it meant a sacrifice in colour.
To that end I will purchase the relevant stone from James Allan using this email address for your payment purposes.
I do appreciate your assistance.
Thank you for your email. If you’re happy with the lower color grade, go for it. It was my pleasure helping you.
Let me know how you like the ring once it arrives.
