Hi. I’m interested in a pair of earrings 1 ctw., in excellent GIA cut, but would prefer $3K or less. Is this possible? Thanks very much.
Can you also tell me what shape of diamond you’re looking for? Then I’ll be happy to send you my suggestions.
Hi. Thanks for your e-mail. The shape I am interested in is round. Also, I realize you may be looking for pre-set rather than loose stones, so I would be going w/yellow gold, basket setting, 4-prongs, and would prefer pousette backs.
Thank you for the information.
Have a look at this matched pair of diamonds:
Blue Nile LD08110767
Blue Nile LD08135506
Both are very well cut, eye-clean and going to look colorless. Here’s also a link with their settings:

Let me know what you think.
Thanks very much for your e-mail. I will take a closer look later today. In the meantime, I’m just curious. I see from a quick glance that the GIA cert. shows cut for both as ‘Excellent,’ whereas the Blue Nile specs. page shows it for both as ‘Ideal.’ Does Blue Nile just use a different grading system?
Thanks again.
As you mentioned, it’s just a different terminology for the same thing.
Let me know what you think about the stones.
Thanks. The stones look beautiful. I have three questions.
Do you see anything comparable on James Allen’s site?
Also, can the Blue Nile stones be viewed at any of their locations, rather than having them sent to me for inspection? I believe when I looked at their site at some point, they had a location in NYC (which is where I work) and on Long Island (fairly close to where I live).
Lastly, what are your thoughts on the idea that studs don’t need to have such high grading as if the stone is set in a ring? I love the idea of a VVS2 stone, but I want to be sure I’m not spending without the appropriate ‘pay-off.’
Many thanks again, for your help!
Yes, they do have a store in New York. I’m not sure if they have these stones in NY. But you can contact them directly and arrange an appointment.
I searched for lower clarity grades, too. At the same time, it is important to see real pictures of lower clarity grades to make sure that they are eye-clean. These two stones ended up to be the best match on BN at the moment.
I also found this pair on JA:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.50-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2014945?a_aid=dmnd1357
They match in depth and table %, fluorescence and other important specs.
Let me know what you decide.
Thanks very much. The other stones also look nice, although BN’s seem to be better value, considering higher clarity. I will let you know once I have made a decision. I am thinking that I should be able to communicate w/ BN by e-mail to be sure you get the appropriate credit, but then if I can inspect them at the store, rather than having them shipped to my house, that might simplify things, on the off chance I decide not to keep them. Also, I may need to re-enlist your services closer to the fall, if some pending issues at my end do not get resolved as soon as I’d like. But I will definitely use your services, whenever I pursue this purchase. You have been incredibly helpful!
Many thanks, again.
Thank you for your kind words. It was my pleasure helping you.
Yes, I also agree that the stones from BN are a better option. I understand your hesitation. At the same time, I wouldn’t worry about purchasing this pair. The diamonds are beautiful and matched. But you should definitely feel comfortable with the purchase.
Sure, feel free to contact me again if there’s anything I can do for you later. Keep me posted.
