Hello, I love your site. Great info and huge help to all of us diamond beginners. Thanks for all that you do. Anyway….I’m leaning toward a fancy color diamond. I was originally looking at colorless, but I stumbled on to some prices that really opened my eyes to fancy color. Also, my main goal is to purchase a ring that is truly unique. I figure a fancy color just makes it a little more unique. I really like the yellow and champagne tones. It seems like if I buy it right, I”ll be able to get a larger stone of nearly the same quality for around the same money. I”m hoping to stay around 3k to 4.5K for the diamond. I tend to prefer the round and marquise, but for me it’s all about the color, size, and overall quality. I can work with most any shape. The setting will likely be white gold or mixed metal (if it helps the color of the stone). This is the stone that I really liked, but of course I hesitated and now it’s unavailable:
If you have any recommendations I would be very grateful.
Do you want to stick with MQ cut?
Yeah, I’d like to go with a MQ or round cut diamond. However, I would consider others if it gets me the best possible value. I’ve noticed a lot of the less expensive fancy colored diamonds are in the radiant cut. Is this to hide more inclusions or bring out the color more? Best case scenario for me would be to find essentially the same diamond as this link.

It just seems to pass the eye test and it’s a great value. I also love the shade of this color. It’s not too dark and I think in the right setting it will look timeless. This diamond was listed for 3400.
This would be my best recommendation for you:
