I have learned so much from your site. Thank you! I am looking to upgrade my wife’s rings, as we did not have much money when we first started out many years ago. I have picked out the setting shown in this link:
Since we are coming up on our 15 year anniversary, I am looking to add an additional band (which will match the wedding band) so there will be one on each side of the engagement ring. Maybe have them fused together. Hopefully not too overwhelming or gaudy?
Anyway, I’m looking for a GIA princess cut somewhere between 1.3 and 1.49 ct, mounted in 14 or 18 K white gold. The JA site shows the side diamonds on the setting and wedding bands as anywhere from G-H color and VS2 – SI1 in clarity also in princess cuts. I know you’ve mentioned having the center stone being compared to the other stones, should be brighter, etc, so not sure where to turn. Seeing with the rings I’m in it for about $3,000, I’m guessing a budget of $7,000 on the stone. I’m looking for something with no visual flaws, yet realize nobody is going to be walking around with a loupe in their pocket either, so why waste the coin. I appreciate any assistance you can provide, but anticipate a question or two to follow.
This diamond would be perfect for you:

It’s absolutely eye-clean, bright and I would truly recommend it. What do you think?
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that item is no longer available. Can you suggest a couple more in order of your preference?
…
What are your thoughts on JA 293511?
That diamond is nice, but the table is a little big. I would go with this one:
Thank you. Last question, but as you can tell I’m a bit nervous. Should I be concerned with the comments on the certificate regarding other pinpoints, clouds, etc. not being shown? Or should I up the budget a bit?
Many thanks again.
You should not be concerned at all. They have no bearing on the visual of the diamond.
