Hi
I’m looking for an eye clean emerald cut diamond with a budget of £5,500 (net of tax) on the stone. The diamond will be paired with a slim yellow gold cathedral solitaire setting (which is available from Blue Nile, as such I’ve focused my search from them so far). I’m also aiming for a ‘bigger’ looking stone, ideally with a length of 7mm.
I have been looking around and thought these fit the criteria but would love a professional opinion whether these are really good value. Would you likewise have any alternatives to recommend?
Both diamonds you selected are beautiful. Well done! Color-wise, I would recommend the I-color one over the other. Emeralds tend to show their color more and thus I color is a safer choice if you want to have the colorless impression.
Thanks! Your site was very helpful to narrow down the search.
I couldn’t help but to shop around further. Can you let me know of what you think of this? The GIA report looks clean but there seems to be a speckle on the stone.
I’m glad you find our site helpful. We appreciate it.
The most recent diamond is eye-clean (the speckle you see is most likely just a smudge, hair or dust, the clarity plot shows no inclusions on the table). The issue with that stone is its symmetry (it’s a bit off) and the black windowing on the edges. I’d pass on this one.
I ultimately went with the bigger colour J diamond. The colour should go nicely with the gold setting and wedding band and my girlfriend doesn’t mind the yellow glow.
Thanks again for all the help!
That’s great news! The J VVS2 has fantastic specs, I hope you’ll love it when you receive it.
