Hello,
So my budget is around 4.000 Euro/5.000 US$.
My girlfriend would like an emerald cut and a tapered ring in white gold.
I would like to get her a stone that does not show inclusions to the naked eye, has a very clean colour and weighs 1 ct.
I found this diamond from Blue Nile:
Blue Nile LD11440147
What are your thoughts on that?
The diamond you selected is not a good choice. You should never buy a D color diamond with strong fluorescence. It is practically guaranteed to have a hazy/dead look in most lighting.
Something like this is going to look much better:
Blue Nile LD11438616
They have fantastic specs.
What do you think?
Thank you for your advice. Very valuable to know about the part fluorescence plays in the final appearance.
Unfortunately one of the diamonds you recommended seems to have been sold. Would you be so kind to have another look for recommendations?
Hopefully, this diamond won’t get snapped up so quickly:
Blue Nile LD11307890
Thank you for your continued support. Looks good.
What about these two:
I prefer the proportions. If I understand they are a bit longer. And one is clearer and one has less fluorescence than the one you suggested.
LD11307832 This one is not eye-clean. It has a very visible pitch black crystal on the right side of the table.
LD11407178 This one is not the best option either, there are some imperfections at the very center of the table and given the glassy appearance of this particular diamond cut, the chances are that those inclusions will be very noticeable.
When you say you prefer the proportions, do you mean the L:W ratio (around 1.40)?
Yes, by proportion I mean the L:W. The longer the better.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I went with the first one and ordered the ring.
So thank you very much for your help and guidance.
That’s great news!
It’s been my pleasure helping you.
